Know the Stats

  • Global trafficking increased over 11% from late February to March 17, 2020 as there was a worldwide increase in pornography use at the beginning of Shelter in Place.

  • There were 42 billion visits to Pornhub’s website in 2019 – an increase of 8.5 billion from the year before – with an average of around 115 million per day and 1,300 per second.

  • There was an 18% increase in traffic after Pornhub made its premium content free for 30 days from February 24 to March 24, 2020.

Premium content typically contains abusive images and sexual assault. Porn sites are aware that there is disturbing and non-consensual content on their platforms. They know that there is no way that users can differentiate fantasy role-play acting or faked production scenarios, to real abuse. Pornhub Premium and other websites enable viewers to download videos onto their own computer so even if a video is taken down from one website it’s easy for any of these users to share it or upload it again to another.

Wondering what your teen is texting about? Here are some emojis to look out for when deciphering sexual content.
