Shift to Online and dNaga Études

When the shelter-in-place order was issued in mid-March of 2020, dNaga was not able to meet in person in the usual ways—but we found other ways to connect and continue dancing through those uncertain times.

Director Claudine Naganuma teaches regular Dance for Parkinson’s (Dance for PD®) classes that were held over Zoom throughout the entirety of the pandemic. Dance for PD® classes are held every Thursday from 10:30–11:45 AM, and are free to all participants. If you would like to join us, please contact us here to sign up and get the Zoom information.

Meanwhile, our intergenerational resident company class continued to dance together while apart. We did art projects through journaling and collage, and we experimented with choreography pieces on Zoom. Check out our dNaga Études above for a taste of what we were playing with.

Being online allowed us the pleasure to reconnect with dancers from New York in both Dance for PD® classes and company classes. We plan to continue to meet online to dance and be creative together while we are unable to be in the same physical space.

We are sending out virtual hugs to our dNaga family, friends, and greater community.
