Wave Motion

Wave Motion Dance is a film directed by Claudine Naganuma inspired by Candace Gaudiani’s Wave Motion videos and stills of bodies of water in Mexico, Colorado, and California. The Wave Motion series captures the changing moods and light refractions of the same places in different seasons, times of day, light, wind and weather. Gaudiani is a visual artist who has lived with PD for nearly eleven years and participates in Dance for PD classes weekly.

In Wave Motion Dance, dancers move to the mysteries of wind and water sounds, rising from a primordial, prelapsarian state, merging with the movements of water and wind and bird song. They celebrate the interconnection between motion and emotion.

Candace Gaudiani is an artist and dancer who has lived nearly eleven years with Parkinson's. Early on she found that dance transformed her ability to move and she participates in Dance for PD classes weekly. Her new work, Wave Motion, centers on videos and stills of the bodies of water in Mexico, California, and Colorado. She revisits these waters in different seasons, times of day with varied light, wind, water, and weather conditions. The range of Wave Motion parallels and visualizes the range of human emotions.

Gaudiani's work can be viewed on her website www.candacegaudiani.com. and is held in numerous museums and private collections. She is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Business School and lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
