Claudine Naganuma, MFA, is a choreographer working in the field of dance for 20 years. The multi-disciplinary approach of her dances shine out through weaving original soundscores, strong visual/textile art elements, cultural themes and symbols, literature, poetry and myth. She designs her own costumes, makes up nonsense rhythms, sometimes she uses sticks and stones, bubbles, feathers, chop sticks; whatever catches her fancy. Her movement palate is an elegant collaborative mixture of her training in Chinese, modern, butoh and ballet styles creating a unique idiom of contemporary dance. For 12 years she served as Artistic Director to the first and oldest Asian American dance organization in the country, Asian American Dance Performances. With AADP, Claudine presented and produced artists of national and international scope as well as making and producing her own work.
